CALL FOR ENTRIES

The MILLS POND HOUSE GALLERY invites artists to submit works ranging from the macabre to the whimsical. The gallery is looking for works that celebrate the awesome power of art as a spiritual instrument that helps man transcend its primeval fear of death and of the unknown. The juror is not interested in works that are gratuitously gory, but is looking instead for works that have an added dimension and portray frightening subject matters in a philosophic, romantic, or humorous light.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists. Entries may not have been shown previously at MILLS POND HOUSE GALLERY. Work may not exceed 54" in width.

ENTRY FEE: $15 for up to 3 entries. STAC members $10. (Artists may join at time of entry)

AWARD: $200 cash prize

LIABILITY/SALES Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition. STAC will receive a 30% commission on all work sold. entries must be 300 dpi jpeg files on CD (1800x1800). CDs must be labeled with artist name. Image files must be named with title of work. Completed entry form and check made payable to STAC MUST accompany entries.

JUROR - ALAIN K. KHADEM is a digital artist specializing in vanitas art. This rather morbid art form marries well with the spirit of Halloween, because it often portrays skulls, snuffed candles, rotting food and other macabre objects which are designed to trigger in the viewer's mind an acute awareness of the brevity of life and the inevitability of death.

SPECIAL PRESENTATION: "The Significance of Object & Symbols in Vanitas Art" by Juror A. K. Khadem - Date to be announced.
